Maksim “Maks” Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-American professional dancer, choreographer, and instructor, best known for his appearances on the American television show “Dancing with the Stars” (DWTS). Born in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, on January 17, 1980, Maksim moved to Brooklyn, New York with his family when he was 14 years old. He began dancing at the age of four, and after recovering from a severe skiing accident at age 13, he pursued dancing with greater determination, eventually becoming a world-renowned Latin ballroom dancer. Maksim joined “Dancing with the Stars” in its second season and quickly became one of the show’s most popular professional dancers, known for his passionate performances and charismatic personality.
