Adam Nathaniel Yauch, better known by his stage name MCA, was an American musician, rapper, songwriter, and filmmaker. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Yauch was one of the founding members of the hip-hop group Beastie Boys. He formed the group in 1978 with Mike D (Michael Diamond) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz), and they went on to become pioneers of the genre, blending punk rock, hip-hop, and funk into a unique sound that broke new ground in the music industry. Yauch was not only a talented musician but also a dedicated activist. He was a practicing Buddhist and an advocate for Tibetan independence, founding the Milarepa Fund to support the cause. Additionally, he directed many of the Beastie Boys’ music videos and concert films under the pseudonym Nathanial Hörnblowér.
