Ben Silbermann is an American businessman and entrepreneur, best known as the co-founder and former CEO of Pinterest, a social media service that allows users to discover and save information using images, GIFs, and videos in the form of pinboards. Silbermann was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in a family with a strong emphasis on education; both of his parents are ophthalmologists. He attended the Research Science Institute at MIT during high school and later went on to study at Yale University, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2003.
