Robert Montgomery Knight, often referred to as “Bobby Knight” or “The General,” is a former American basketball coach renowned for his time with the Indiana Hoosiers. Knight was born in Massillon, Ohio, and grew up with a passion for basketball. He played as a forward for the Ohio State Buckeyes and was part of their 1960 NCAA championship team. Knight began his coaching career as an assistant at Army before becoming the head coach there in 1965.
