His work appeared in major publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times. Hondros was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography in 2004 and won multiple awards, including the Robert Capa Gold Medal. Tragically, his life and career were cut short when he was killed while covering the Libyan Civil War in 2011.
