Cindy Hyde-Smith is an American politician who has been serving as the junior United States Senator from Mississippi since April 2, 2018. She is a member of the Republican Party and the first woman to represent Mississippi in Congress. Before becoming a U.S. Senator, she served as the Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce from 2012 to 2018 and was a member of the Mississippi State Senate from 2000 to 2012.
