William Christopher “Dabo” Swinney is an American college football coach and former player who is currently the head coach at Clemson University. He was born on November 20, 1969, in Birmingham, Alabama. Swinney played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was a wide receiver and part of the 1992 National Championship team. He began his coaching career at Alabama as a graduate assistant and later became a wide receivers coach. Swinney joined the Clemson coaching staff in 2003 as a wide receivers coach and was promoted to interim head coach in 2008 following the resignation of Tommy Bowden. He was named the full-time head coach later that year. Under Swinney’s leadership, Clemson has become one of the most successful college football programs in the country. The Tigers have won multiple ACC Championships and two National Championships (2016 and 2018) during his tenure.
