Donald “Duck” Dunn was an American bass guitarist, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his work with the Stax Records house band, Booker T. & the M.G.’s. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Dunn grew up in a musical environment and started playing bass guitar in high school. His deep, groove-laden playing style became a defining feature of the Memphis sound. Throughout his career, Dunn played with a variety of legendary artists, including Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Muddy Waters. He also gained fame as a member of the Blues Brothers Band, both in the iconic 1980 film and its various musical ventures.
