Frank Robinson was an American professional baseball outfielder and manager. Born in Beaumont, Texas, and raised in Oakland, California, he made significant contributions to Major League Baseball (MLB) both as a player and a manager. Robinson played for five teams from 1956 to 1976 and was the only player to be named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of both the National League (NL) and the American League (AL). He later became the first African American manager in MLB history. His illustrious career saw him inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. Robinson began his MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds, where he quickly established himself as one of the game’s premier hitters. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 1965, where he won the Triple Crown in 1966, leading the league in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in (RBIs).
