George Gordon Battle Liddy, commonly known as G. Gordon Liddy, was an American lawyer, FBI agent, talk show host, actor, and political operative. Born on November 30, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, Liddy is perhaps most infamous for his role in the Watergate scandal, a major political scandal in the 1970s that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Liddy graduated from Fordham University and later earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law. He served in the United States Army before joining the FBI, where he worked under J. Edgar Hoover. Liddy later joined Nixon’s administration, where he became a key figure in the covert operations that led to the Watergate break-in. He was convicted of burglary, conspiracy, and refusing to testify to the Senate committee investigating Watergate, and served nearly four and a half years in prison. After his release, Liddy reinvented himself as a talk show host, author, and actor, appearing in films and TV shows. He authored several books, including his autobiography “Will,” which became a bestseller.
