Gregory Richard Gianforte, known as Greg Gianforte, is an American businessman, engineer, author, and politician serving as the 25th governor of Montana since 2021. Born in San Diego, California, Gianforte earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology. He founded RightNow Technologies, a customer relationship management software company, in 1997. The company went public in 2004 and was later acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2012 for $1.5 billion. Gianforte entered politics in 2017, winning the special election to serve as Montana’s at-large congressional district representative after the seat was vacated by Ryan Zinke. He was re-elected in 2018 and subsequently ran for governor in 2020, winning the election and taking office in January 2021.
