Biography
Gregory H. Johnson, also known as Greg Johnson, is a retired American astronaut and former NASA astronaut. Born in South Ruislip, Middlesex, England to American parents, Johnson grew up in Fairborn, Ohio. He graduated from Park Hills High School in Fairborn in 1972. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy in 1977 and a Master of Science degree in Flight Structures Engineering from Columbia University in 1985. Johnson served as a pilot in the United States Air Force, flying F-15 fighters and later working as a test pilot. His distinguished military career included over 5,000 flight hours in more than 50 different aircraft. Selected by NASA in June 1998, Johnson served as a pilot on the Space Shuttle Endeavour for STS-123 in 2008 and STS-134 in 2011, which was the final flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour. After retiring from NASA, Johnson continued to contribute to the field of space exploration and education. He served as the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), which manages the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory.
