Joe Sakic, born Joseph Steven Sakic, is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and executive known for his exceptional career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on July 7, 1969, in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Sakic spent the entirety of his NHL career with the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche franchise, where he played as a center and served as the team captain for 17 years. Sakic was drafted 15th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft.
