José Ramón Andrés Puerta, known professionally as José Andrés, is a Spanish-American chef, restaurateur, and humanitarian born in Mieres, Spain. He is widely recognized for bringing the small plates dining concept to America and for his pioneering work in the field of molecular gastronomy. Andrés started his culinary career at the world-renowned restaurant El Bulli, where he worked under the tutelage of Ferran Adrià. In 1991, he moved to the United States and quickly rose to prominence in the culinary world.
