Biography
Tiaina Baul “Junior” Seau Jr. was a celebrated American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 20 seasons, primarily with the San Diego Chargers. Born to Samoan parents in Oceanside, California, Seau’s athletic prowess was evident from a young age. He attended the University of Southern California, where he excelled in football, earning All-American honors before declaring for the NFL Draft in 1990. Selected fifth overall by the Chargers, Seau quickly became the face of the franchise, known for his relentless energy, leadership, and tenacious defensive play. Over his career, he was named to 12 Pro Bowls, received numerous All-Pro honors, and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1992. After his tenure with the Chargers, Seau played for the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots before retiring in 2009. Off the field, Seau was deeply involved in charitable work, founding the Junior Seau Foundation to support youth programs and education.
