Baker’s most renowned work is “The Company” series, which begins with “In the Garden of Iden” (1997). The series revolves around a group of immortal cyborgs who are employed by a 24th-century company to recover rare items from the past and preserve them for future use. Her ability to blend humor, historical detail, and speculative fiction has garnered her a loyal readership and critical acclaim.
