Les Claypool, born Leslie Edward Claypool, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and author, best known as the bassist and lead vocalist of the band Primus. Born in Richmond, California, Claypool grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and demonstrated an early interest in music. Primarily self-taught, he developed a unique and eclectic bass-playing style that has garnered him widespread acclaim. Claypool’s music spans a variety of genres, including rock, funk, metal, and progressive rock.
