Linda M. Godwin is a retired American astronaut and physicist who made significant contributions to space exploration during her tenure at NASA. Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, she grew up in Jackson, Missouri, and developed an early interest in science and space. Godwin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from Southeast Missouri State University in 1974 and went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Physics in 1976 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics in 1980, both from the University of Missouri.
