Mack Wilberg is an American composer, arranger, conductor, and the current music director of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. Born in Price, Utah, Wilberg showed an early interest in music, learning to play the piano and later the organ. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music from Brigham Young University (BYU) and went on to receive his master’s degree and Doctor of Musical Arts in choral conducting from the University of Southern California. Before joining the Tabernacle Choir, Wilberg was a professor of music at BYU, where he also directed the Men’s Chorus and Concert Choir. In 1999, he became an associate music director for the Tabernacle Choir and was appointed music director in 2008. Under his leadership, the choir has expanded its repertoire and increased its global presence through numerous recordings, concerts, and tours. Wilberg is known for his innovative arrangements of hymns and folk songs, as well as his original compositions, which are regularly performed by choirs around the world.
