Mark Pocan is an American politician and businessman, serving as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 2nd congressional district since 2013. Born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Pocan attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1986. Pocan’s political career began in the Wisconsin State Assembly, where he served from 1999 to 2013. Known for his progressive stances, he has been an advocate for labor rights, healthcare reform, and LGBTQ+ equality. He co-chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus and has been a vocal critic of economic inequality and corporate influence in politics.
