Rebecca Michelle “Mikie” Sherrill is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district since 2019. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, she grew up in Northern Virginia and attended South Lakes High School. Sherrill graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994. She served in the United States Navy for almost 10 years as a Sea King helicopter pilot and Russian policy officer. After leaving the Navy, she earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a Master of Science degree in Global History from the London School of Economics. Sherrill worked as a lawyer and served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey before entering politics.
