Nikki Haley, born Nimrata Randhawa, is an American politician, diplomat, and author who served as the 116th Governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and as the 29th United States Ambassador to the United Nations from January 2017 to December 2018. Haley was born to Indian immigrant parents and grew up in Bamberg, South Carolina. Her political career began in the South Carolina House of Representatives, where she represented the 87th district from 2005 to 2011.
