Patrick Ewing is a retired Jamaican-American basketball player and current basketball coach who is widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in NBA history. Ewing was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and moved to the United States at the age of 12. He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas, leading them to a national championship in 1984. Ewing was the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, where he spent the majority of his career. He was an 11-time NBA All-Star and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. After retiring as a player, Ewing transitioned into coaching and has served as the head coach for the Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball team since 2017.
