Preetinder Singh Bharara, commonly known as Preet Bharara, was born in Firozpur, India, and emigrated to the United States with his family as a young child. He grew up in Eatontown, New Jersey, and attended Ranney School. Bharara graduated from Harvard College in 1990 and received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1993.
