Biography

Randy Savage, born Randall Mario Poffo, was an American professional wrestler and professional baseball player best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He was born on November 15, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio. Savage was known for his flamboyant style, colorful outfits, and his signature catchphrase, “Ooh yeah!” He was a two-time WWF Champion and a four-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Savage was also a one-time WWF Intercontinental Champion and is credited with bringing a higher level of athleticism and showmanship to professional wrestling. Savage began his wrestling career in 1973 after a brief stint in minor league baseball. He quickly rose through the ranks, gaining fame for his intense persona and high-flying moves. His most famous feud was with Hulk Hogan, and the two wrestlers headlined multiple pay-per-view events, including WrestleMania V. Outside the ring, Savage appeared in various television shows and movies, most notably portraying Bone Saw McGraw in the 2002 film “Spider-Man.” Savage was married to his manager, Miss Elizabeth, from 1984 until their divorce in 1992. He later married Barbara Lynn Payne in 2010. Tragically, Randy Savage died on May 20, 2011, in Seminole, Florida, after suffering a heart attack while driving.
