Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, commonly known as S. Sreesanth, is an Indian cricketer and politician. Born on February 6, 1983, in Kothamangalam, Kerala, he is a right-arm fast-medium-pace bowler and a right-handed tail-ender batsman. Sreesanth made his debut in first-class cricket playing for Kerala in the 2002-03 season. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka in 2005 and Test debut against England in the same year. Sreesanth quickly became known for his aggressive bowling and fiery on-field personality. He was a part of the Indian squad that won the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. However, his career faced a major setback in 2013 when he was implicated in the IPL spot-fixing scandal and subsequently banned from cricket for life, a ban that was later reduced to seven years.
