Sunita Williams, born Sunita Lyn Pandya on September 19, 1965, in Euclid, Ohio, is a distinguished American astronaut and United States Navy officer. As an accomplished aviator and engineer, she became one of NASA’s most renowned astronauts, known for her record-breaking space missions and contributions to space exploration. Williams graduated from Needham High School in Massachusetts in 1983 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Science from the United States Naval Academy in 1987. She later received a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology in 1995. She was designated a Naval Aviator in 1989 and served in various roles, including as a helicopter pilot, before being selected by NASA in 1998.
