Ted Williams, born Theodore Samuel Williams, was an American professional baseball player and manager. Williams played his entire 19-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career as a left fielder for the Boston Red Sox from 1939 to 1960, interrupted by service in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. Widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in the history of the sport, Williams was a 19-time All-Star and two-time American League Most Valuable Player (MVP). He won six batting titles, led the league in home runs four times, and was the last player to hit over .400 in a season, a feat he accomplished in 1941.
