Tom Izzo is a prominent American college basketball coach, best known for his long-standing tenure as the head coach of the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team. Born and raised in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Izzo developed a passion for basketball early in life, playing for his high school team alongside his lifelong friend Steve Mariucci. He attended Northern Michigan University, where he played as a guard for the men’s basketball team from 1973 to 1977.
