Biography
Warren Moon is a retired professional football quarterback who made history as one of the most successful and influential players in both the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the National Football League (NFL). Born on November 18, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, Moon faced numerous challenges early in his career due to racial prejudices that prevented many black quarterbacks from getting opportunities in professional football. Undeterred, Moon signed with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL, where he won five consecutive Grey Cups from 1978 to 1982 and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 1983. In 1984, Moon made the transition to the NFL, signing with the Houston Oilers. Over his 17-season NFL career, he also played for the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City Chiefs.
