Zack de la Rocha is an American musician, poet, and activist, best known as the vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Rage Against the Machine. Born in Long Beach, California, de la Rocha grew up in a politically conscious household. His father, Beto de la Rocha, was a member of the Chicano art group “Los Four” and instilled in him a deep sense of cultural and social awareness. Zack initially started his musical journey with the hardcore punk band Inside Out before co-founding Rage Against the Machine in 1991. Rage Against the Machine quickly gained notoriety for their revolutionary lyrics, blending punk rock, hip-hop, and heavy metal.
